Breast Cancer Death Rate Is Decreasing

The death rate due to cancer has declined in the United States in recent years. In fact, 650,000 lives were spared from cancer between 1990 and 2005.
A decrease in deaths from breast cancer accounted for 37 percent of the reduction in the death rate among women during the 15-year period. This is largely due to a decreased use of hormone replacement therapy (HRT), which has been shown to increase a woman’s risk of developing breast cancer.
HRT fell out of favor after a large government-funded study known as the Women’s Health Initiative was stopped early because the risks of HRT, including an increased risk of breast cancer, greatly outnumbered the benefits of the therapy.

Sherri’s View:
It has long been known by alternative health care practitioners that HRT (hormone replacement therapy, most often equine estrogen) is probably not the best option for a woman who wants to stay healthy. Horse estrogen is a lot stronger than the human version, and even though it will usually stop hot flashes, it can cause a lot of other problems.
Among the HRT side effects are heart attacks, strokes, blood clots, high blood pressure, and vaginal bleeding. Not pretty.
If you believe your hormones are out of whack (answer this 10 minute questionnaire to find out), there are much safer ways to balance them. Plant-based therapies and USP progesterone are my first choices, depending on the client’s particular needs.
The “symptoms” of cancer can be addressed in many ways (sidenote: we only address symptoms, because it is actually illegal to cure cancer. I’m always happy to accept a permanent remission, however
